With levels of obesity and food related illness on the increase in the Borough, especially in school aged children, our primary aim is to change poor eating habits by informing children and adults of the benefits of healthy eating whilst teaching basic cookery techniques. Bad habits don’t get fixed over night, which is why we teach a ‘step change’ approach. Incremental changes work and over time healthy cooking becomes common sense.

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME
We help deliver B&D’s Child Weight Management Programme. Vicki specialises in their Family Weight Management Programme whilst Natasha’s focus lies in helping teenagers lead healthier more active lifestyles.
We deliver a large number of cookery classes where families with young children and teenagers come and cook using our recipes that they then replicate back at home.
We deliver a number of themed Cookery Days in schools across the Borough. Starting off in the School Assembly talking about healthy eating, we then enter the classroom where we carry out cookery workshops, getting the children preparing and eating a number of healthy recipes.
HOLIDAY COOKING CAMPS
During the holidays we deliver day workshops covering a large number of topics. Through a mixture of theory and practicals children make a wide range of recipes that they eat on site and get to replicate at home after.
LIVE COOKERY DEMONSTRATION AT COMMUNITY EVENTS
We perform a umber of live cookery demonstrations with the intent of showing the general public how easy it is to cook from scratch. We get the audience involved and they get to try all the recipes at the end of the demonstration.
Recipes include – oven baked fish, curried cauliflower with black onion seeds, chicken nuggets, simple lentil & sweet potato curry, pan fried chicken with garlic and thyme, winter slaw, carrot & apple salad, homemade orangeade
